DNEA requirements: education, experience, and clearance.
DNEA qualification depends on the assignment, relevant education, technical experience, and required customer access. GS Consulting is recruiting at Levels 1–4. Use the reference below to prepare for a conversation—not to make a final eligibility decision.
Compare the four levels.
The table combines GS’s dated Level 2–3 recruiting reference with the Level 1 and 4 paths in GS’s broader DNEA career guidance, checked October 3, 2026. These are reference paths: confirm the exact assignment’s requirements with recruiting. Level 1 is not a no-experience path.

A degree title is only part of the answer.
Computer Science is the standard degree path in the reference. Related Engineering, Mathematics, IT, and Information Systems degrees require approved CS-equivalent coursework. A related degree should not be treated as automatically equivalent.
Prepare your degree name and a clear account of relevant coursework. Ask recruiting what documentation is needed before sending a transcript or course descriptions. This site does not collect those documents.
Describe relevant work, not just years served.
Programming, systems design and analysis, network security, vulnerability analysis, forensics, and systems administration can provide relevant experience. The connection depends on your actual duties and the role’s requirements.
For each period of work, note the dates, your responsibility, the technical question you addressed, and how you checked the result. Identify overlapping employment or training periods for recruiter review rather than adding them twice. Keep all examples unclassified.
Military training and JCAC.
The reviewed GS reference says a 24-week Joint Cyber Analysis Course may count as six months of relevant experience, subject to contract review. That is not an automatic degree substitution or a guarantee of qualification. Separate training from assignment experience and ask how overlapping periods are evaluated.
Clearance, polygraph, and customer acceptance.
The role reference calls for active TS/SCI with a current polygraph. Confirm the exact polygraph requirement, customer acceptance, and access requirements for the assignment. Do not assume that language used for a TDNA role applies to DNEA.
Questions to take to recruiting.
- Which level and assignment match my relevant work?
- Does my degree and coursework meet the approved education path?
- Which experience periods and training credits count?
- What worksite, schedule, and clearance requirements apply?
- What is the approved compensation for this specific role?
